Folios 43-44. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to Robert Lampen, [Vicar of Probus and Kea], St Andrew's Chapel House, Plymouth, [Devon], replying to his letter of 11 March 1835, concerning the attempt to hold regular religious meetings in the Probus Workhouse. They recommend that the parish should establish proper rules and regulations for the workhouse. On admission, a written record should be made of a pauper's details, including religion. There should be rules on the admission of strangers and they enclose a copy of a new regulation [not included]. The overseers or select vestry should establish the rules, which must be sent to the Commission for approval. Poor Law Union Number 57. Counties: Cornwall.
