Folios 351-352. Draft letter from the Local Government Board to J Kirkland, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southwell Union, relating to the Elementary Education Act.
The Board state that they approve the payment to Mr Kirkland of £15 in respect of his services as Clerk to the School Attendance Committee of the Southwell Union for 1 year and they also approve the payment to Mr Shacklock and Mr Adamson of £5 each for their services as Inquiry officers.
They request that the particulars of the.
appointment of Mr Adamson and Mr Blundell, to act as School Attendance officers, may be sent to the Board on the enclosed forms.
With reference to the statement that the School Attendance Committee has appointed Mr Adamson and Mr Blundell to act as Inquiry Officers, the Board remind the Guardians that the appointment of Inquiry Officers is vested in them and not in the School Attendance Committee. Moreover, as the salaries of Inquiry Officers and School Attendance Officers are chargeable to separate funds, it is necessary that the proposed remuneration should be divided and a separate amount assigned in respect of each officer.
