3 individual petitions (John Poynder, prosecutor, and two from W G Broughton, Archdeacon of New South Wales one of which recommends reduction of the sentence to 7 years transportation) and accompanying letter on behalf of James Wood, clerk, convicted at the Old Bailey in February 1829 for embezzlement against John Poynder, solicitor of Bridewell Hospital, New Bridge Street [London]. Gaoler's report: character not known. Grounds for clemency: led astray by evil associates, young age, first offence, good conduct since transported, respectable widowed mother. Initial sentence: 14 year's transportation. Annotated: nil. AV 10
