2 individual petitions (prisoner and W Thornhill, Commander of 7th Hussars) on behalf of Joseph Finch convicted at the Old Bailey in July 1824 of theft of wearing apparel valued at more than 40 shillings. Covering letter from Lord Uxbridge forwarding the petition. Grounds for clemency: Served in 7th Hussars for six years. Virtuous and honest. First offence. Truly penitent. Initial sentence: Death. Annotated: considered at the Report in Council 14 August 1824. MK17
