Description

3 individual petitions (Ann Roberts, mother of the prisoner also signed by the prisoner, William Spear, employer of parents and John Barlow, prosecutor)and 1 collective petition (20 signatories) on behalf of William Roberts convicted of assault and robbery committed on 5 November in Rawmarsh Lane near Rotherham [place and date of trial unspecified]. Grounds for clemency: only son with aged father. Asks for son to be transported as his death will be the death of his mother. Initial sentence: death. Annotated: 'Nil considered by Mr Peel.' MH46
