1 individual petition (Sarah Bryan, a widow and mother of the prisoner) and 1 collective petition (33 inhabitants of London) on behalf of George Bryan aged 15 convicted at the Old Bailey of theft of two flutes valued 10 shillings from Samuel Potter, shopkeeper of King Street, Westminster. Grounds for clemency: mother has supported four children by making waistcoats for Mr Ashton of 52 Strand. When not employed has been reduced to extreme distress and poverty. Prisoner accepted any small jobs and errands and the signatories on the petition attest that he carried out these errands with the proper propriety. Initial sentence: death. Annotated: 'considered at the Report in Council 6 February 1822.' MH32
