Description

2 collective petitions (Thomas James Bray and Jane Bray, prisoner's parents and 19 people of Shoe Lane including the prosecutor) on behalf of Charles Bray, indicted under the name Charles Newman, convicted at the Old Bailey October Sessions 1829 of stealing from the person of Stephen Noad on 25 September 1829. Grounds for clemency: father aged and infirm, has lost a limb, looked to son to support parents in old age, sorry for crime. Initial sentence: transportation for life. Gaoler's report: not known here. Annotated: ordered to hulks, nil. KO48
