- Folios 292-294. Letter from W E Goodacre, Clerk to the Guardians of the Mansfield Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board. In reply to a letter of 5 June, number Paper Number: 21542/1855. Informing and enclosing a form as directed indicating the extensive details of the places of residence of the medical officers proposed to serve and for a sanction of appointments of district number 1, 3 and the workhouse. Also transmitting as enquired an extract of an Admiralty statement, signed by Sir William Barnett, Inspector General of Naval Hospitals and Fleet; verifying that Mr Spencer of district number 5 is a qualified surgeon and believes that a copy of the certificate had been forwarded to the Board Commissioners. Further referring to a reference found in a return made to the Registrar General under the Vaccination Act [not included] that Mr Bowler of district number 2 is a member both of the College of Surgeons and that of the Apothecaries Company. 24876/1855. Poor Law Union Number 337. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
