Folio 263. Letter from W E Goodacre, Clerk to the Guardians of the Mansfield Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board. Informing that out relief was ordered to the following cases of able bodied men. 1. John Jackson, wife and two children; ordered 2s and 16lbs of bread for one week. 2. Samuel Allsopp, framework knitter, wife and three children, all in the workhouse but have promise of work. Ordered 1s and 16lbs of bread for one week. 3. Isaiah Banner, framework knitter, wife and five children, three above the age of sixteen living with him but all out of work. Ordered 3s and 16lbs bread for two weeks. 4. Benjamin Turner, framework knitter, wife and three children; the eldest child having just recovered from fever. Ordered 1s 6d and 8lbs of bread for one week. Further informing the workhouse was offered to the applicants of 'this class.' Requesting for a sanction under article 6 of prohibitory order. Annotated: sanction. Paper Number: 20387/1855. Poor Law Union Number 337. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
