- Folio 31. Pro-forma draft letter from Edwin Chadwick [Secretary to the Poor Law Commission], to Messrs W and E Willoby [William Willoby and Edward Willoby], Clerks to the Guardians of the Berwick-upon-Tweed Poor Law Union, acknowledging receipt of their letter of 12 February enclosing the vaccination return. He notes the discrepancy between the 746 births in the union and the 323 vaccinations for the year ended 29 September 1844, states that the Commission considers a greater number might have been vaccinated and suggests that the attention of the vaccinators be called to the subject. Paper number: 1851/A/1845. Poor Law Union Number 325. Counties: Town and County of Berwick-upon-Tweed and Northumberland.
