Folios 36-37. Letter from E Wood, Burslem, to the Registrar General, reporting that through Mr Davenport, Member of Parliament, [John Davenport Stoke upon Trent MP], an address had been sent to the Poor Law Commission on behalf of George Powell who is seeking the position of Registrar of Births Marriages and Deaths for Burslem. A reply on 20 February 1837 had been received by the Reverend W Cooper, but as it is now understood that applications should go to the Registrar General those who sent the memorial on behalf of Powell desire that he should be appointed. Annotated: Mr Lass, Nil, 15 June 1837. Paper number: 5050/C/1837. Poor Law Union Number 415. Counties: Staffordshire.
