Description (What the record is about)
-
This series contains a variety of registers and indexes to deeds enrolled in the Office of Land Revenue Records and Enrolments.
The registers, by date of enrolment, are of deeds in LRRO 16 and LRRO 17, 1852-1896; general registers, by date of enrolment, of deeds in LRRO 13 - LRRO 18, LRRO 20 and LRRO 25, 1896-1962, with indexes of parties and places, 1898-1914; and indexes of parties and places to deeds enrolled in LRRO 13 - LRRO 17 at various dates between 1832 and 1907.
The first series of registers relates to enrolments for the years 1852 to 1896, now in LRRO 16 and LRRO 17, and record briefly: the date of receipt of the deed in the Office of Land Revenue Records and Enrolments, the district to which the deed refers, a description of the deed, the names of the parties, a description of the premises, the date of return of the deed, the name of the party to whom it was returned, and the fee paid for enrolment. A letter entered in the 'when received' column designates the type of deed, which normally corresponds to the entry in the 'description of deed' column and, in theory, to the various distinct series of enrolments maintained until 1896 when a new general register was begun. This correspondence is not always accurate, and a search may be needed in more than one series of enrolments in order to trace the full text of the deed.
