Enrolments of deeds and instruments relating to the purchase, sale, lease and exchange of foreshores which, as Crown lands, were subject to the provisions for enrolment in the Office of Land Revenue Records and Enrolments.
These enrolments by deposit date from the period when the administration of foreshores had passed in 1866 from the Office of Woods, Forests and Land Revenues to the Board of Trade, where it was the responsibility of the Harbour Department until 1919 and of the Marine Department until 1939, when it passed to the Ministry of Shipping.
