Description
(What the record is about)
-
Enrolments of deeds and instruments relating to the purchase, sale, lease and exchange of Crown lands, made in the Office of Land Revenue Records and Enrolments under statutes 2 Will IV c1, 14 & 15 Vict c42, and 15 & 16 Vict c62.
The series includes enrolments relating to Crown woods which were not transferred to the Forestry Commission, but which remained the responsibility of the Commissioners of Crown Lands and their successors the Crown Estate Commissioners.
The series also contains a number of plans, many of which relate to deeds enrolled by entry in LRRO 13 but which were too large to be entered in the same books as the deed, and some enclosure awards.
These enrolments by deposit were made by, successively, the Office of Woods, Forests and Land Revenues (1852-1924), the Office of the Commissioners of Crown Lands (1924-1956) and the Office of the Crown Estate Commissioners (1956-1961).

Arrangement
Before 1 July 1914 the documents are classified in several series; but after this date they are arranged in a single general series. As with LRRO 13 it may be necessary, for the period before 1914, to search the indexes to series other than that to which a deed seems properly to belong.
