William Wellesley Pole. Lieutenant Jones requests an order dispensing with a captain's certificate so that he may be paid for his service on the Fury. He has produced logbooks for the Fury, now in the Baltic, and for the Med Elvin, the ship he joined after leaving the Fury, and a certificate from the captain of the Med Elvin. Opine that insufficient grounds have been stated for dispensing with the certificate from the Fury and that the certificate of the captain of the Med Elvin is defective.
