William Wellesley Pole. The Order in Council of 6th October 1802 can be read as granting superannuation to any artificer unable to work in the dock and rope yards. The two earlier orders relating to superannuation of yard workers each limited the overall number entitled to superannuation and required either thirty years of service or a disabling injury from work in the yard. The 1802 order had been read as removing the limit on the number entitled to superannuation but as continuing the requirement of either thirty years' service or a yard injury. Ask for confirmation that this is correct.
