Description

William Wellesley Pole. If the steam engine to be erected at Chatham has surplus power, this could be used for the tarring of yarns, a process currently carried out using horses. It might also be applied to turning wheels for the spinners and in laying cables and hawsers. Do not recommend its application to any other purposes than the formation of strands and the tarring of yarns.
