Philip Stephens. Rear Admiral Sir Robert Harland, reports stores sent from England to the East Indies are very short of the quantities required, especially cables. We have such stores as we judged necessary for a general supply of ships stationed there. No demand from Sir Robert or the Naval Storekeeper has been made for our guidance. From the quantity of stores sent and the bills drawn for stores, we did not expect a complaint of this kind. We are to provide stores as specified for ships which are to remain in the East Indies, for which the last supplies sent out, were judged suitable, since a fresh supply is unnecessary as Sir Robert's Squadron is coming home. A proper supply for Commodore Sir Edward Hughes, will be sent as usual
