Philip Stephens. There are difficulties experienced for want of sufficient room to carry on the business of their Department because of the ruinous state of the several buildings, which require repair and enlargement. The Navy Office was destroyed by fire and was rebuilt in 1682 suited to the Navy at the time but the business has increased and 3 adjacent houses were bought and two others since hired to extend the offices and for depositing books and papers. There is no room for further enlargement and repairs would only prolong the offices for another two years, so opine a building should be erected elsewhere and these premises sold to finance the new building. Opine it would be proper to unite the Treasurer's and this office and give an estimate for the new buildings compared with the present situation
