Philip Stephens. We are to take up ships for the East Indies and having never before chartered any to go within the limits of the East India Company's Charter, opine some clauses are necessary to be inserted in their Charter Party. The Comptroller informs us he conversed with their Chairman and Deputy Chairman and they have promised to send such papers they thought would furnish the best information, which have been perused by our Solicitor. We are sending a copy Charter Party and have hired the Anson and the Earl of Ashburnham. We received some comments from their Secretary which we did not think ourselves authorised to insert in our Charter Party and will alter the Charter Party for subsequent ships but ask for directions
