John Clevland. The owners of the Constant John transport, William Whitby, Master, lent to the Commissioners of Victualling, has come from Quiberon Bay and was separated in bad weather from the Intrepid, her convoy. Met the Favourite Privateer of St. Malo and was ransomed which bill is presented for payment. As her ransom was less than her value and Captain Hughes of the Intrepid informs us the Master was not to blame in parting company and propose the ransom bill is paid
