Thomas Corbett. In an action between British and French squadrons in the East Indies, the British ships suffered much damage to sails and rigging and Captain Peyton, who took command of the British ships as Commodore Barnet was killed in action, says that his ships are short of replacement parts. Commodore Barnet had supplies of these parts made in advance and they were kept at Madras, which has fallen to the French, with an account of the replacements.
