Thomas Corbett. An anonymous letter has been received from a Naval Surgeon, which draws attention to the bad effects of using the elixir of vitriol on board ship. Have ordered an investigation through the Commissioners of Sick and Wounded, the Physician of Greenwich Hospital and, if necessary, the Master, Wardens and Assistants of the Surgeon's company and serving Naval Surgeons. We do not feel competent to judge the complaint but feel that as expert opinion has supported the use of the elixir, they do not need to make recommendations.
