Description

Thomas Corbett. Progress on the conversion of two 80-gun ships to 64-gun ships, the Lancaster at Woolwich and Somerset at Chatham. Orders to contract the Somerset have been made but no work has been undertaken. The work on the Lancaster is under way. When complete the ships will be similar to the Devonshire. Doubt whether alterations to other ships of the same size would be advisable
