Description

Affidavit, sworn before Samuel Townsend at Whitehall, County Cork, that Darby Carty and William Sturman of Cape Clear, Mariners, say that they were brought to by a French privateer from St. Malo off Cape Clear and four men were taken off their boats as hostages for the provision of sheep, chickens and potatoes on the following morning. They were to be released once the food was delivered..
