Thomas Corbett. Mr. Clevland has sent a letter from Captain Boscawen of the Namur which says he captured the Maidstone a 12-gun privateer in May which was well stored and fitted and had a crew of 110. Vice Admiral Martin sent the ship to Cape Breton on an express mission which lasted until August, when the ship returned to the captor's agent. All the provisions and stores were exhausted and Captain Boscawen now claims compensation for hire of the vessel, for wear and tear and for the replacement of stores. Mr. Clevland advises a reasonable compensation should be £100 a month for hire but less than Captain Boscawen asks for wear and tear, victuals and stores
