Description (What the record is about)
-
Thomas Corbett. Mr. Bladwell, late Lieutenant of the Feversham, claims compensation for repayments made to the Board because receipts in settlement of imprest accounts had been lost at the Navy Office. He received an imprest in January 1740 for procuring men and passed that unused to Lieutenant Thomas Cross who gave him a receipt. As a Lieutenant in the Essex, he received a sum from Captain Nicholas Robinson to procure men. When he was transferred he paid the balance to Lieutenant Hugh Bonfoy, who gave him a receipt. When he settled his accounts he passed the receipts to Richard Hogg of the Navy Office and they were lost. He cleared his accounts by settling in cash for the sums on the receipts and requests reimbursement. As he has sworn he received the receipts, he should be compensated
