Lords of the Admiralty to Dartmouth: they have been asked to give instructions to Sir James Wisheart, going to Holland to negotiate ship quotas with the States General. They recommend 1) that in Lisbon and the Mediterranean the Dutch should furnish five ships to every eight of ours, beside small frigates, fireships etc. 2) that since it is proposed to deploy ten British ships off Dunkirk, the Dutch should supply six. The Dutch must give timely notice before withdrawing any squadron. Dated at Admiralty Office.
Burchett to [Under Secretary] Tilson: Sir David Mitchell was paid £500 every time he went to Holland to negotiate the ship quotas, and his attendant £1 per diem. Dated 13 December 1710 at Admiralty Office
