Folios 118-119. A letter from the clerk to the magistrates of Newport, Isle of Wight, [Hampshire], applying for the Preventive Water Guard to be quartered at the Albany Barracks to prevent the communications of ill-disposed inhabitants of the island. He requests that communication is passed on to the Barracks Department, to get authority to be sent to Captain Bygrave, Barrack Master. He also suggests that army pensioners on the island should be sworn in as special constables under direction of the magistrates. He also mentions Colonel Evligh, who was on full pay.
