Folios 37-38: case no.98, Daniel Nicols, aged 34, ordinary seaman; taken ill at Cadiz bay; disease or hurt, severe contusion on the head by the main stay block the strap having broke causing severe hemoragy [haemorrhage] from both ears, no external marks of injury; taken ill, 9 April 1811; died 20 April 1811.
Folio 38: case no.99, Henery Thomas, aged 62, ordinary seaman; taken ill at Cadiz bay; disease or hurt, catarrh and scurvy legs; taken ill, 9 April 1811; discharged 17 May 1811 to duty.
Folio 38: case no.100, James Mitchell, aged 24, able seaman; taken ill at Cadiz bay; disease or hurt, severe wound of the right hand which lacerated integuments on the back of the hand and much injured the extens or tendons. Received this injury from a jam of the flat boats cannonade slide when hoisting water casks were stowed underneath said slide. Folio 41: Nearly all of the above cases accompanied with similar symptoms, cough, pain in the breast with increased active in the vascular system, in some the disease was protracted particularly in those subject to catarrhal or asthmatical affections. All cases originated from the same cause namely a continuous of hot easterly winds blowing over the low marshy land of the [Crocodera]. Beg leave to refer you to the cases on the other side as a general outline of the medical treatment of the above cases.
