Description

Report of Mr Jones, on 1 individual petition (prisoner), on behalf of John Morris, convicted at the Carmarthenshire Quarter Sessions in April 1826 of assaulting John Peddings. Morris pleaded guilty to the crime. Grounds for clemency: the prosecutor has absconded; Morris had no means of employing an advocate to defend him; he has a wife and a child of 12 months who need his support. Evidences supplied by John Peddings; David Thomas, surgeon; William Morgan; and Henry Williams. Sentence: 18 months imprisonment and hard labour in the House of Correction for the County of Carmarthen. Recommendation: none given. Folios 187-193.
