Folios 49-51. Letter from John Harrop, Clerk of Manchester Board of Guardians, to the Poor Law Commissioners, acknowledging receipt of their circular, with reference to previous circulars, regarding a distinction in the provision of relief to the poor who have been rendered irremovable from the parish where they are living, and the Commissioners enquiry as to whether the guardians have ever made any such distinction or passed a resolution on the subject since the passing of the statute. Harrop assures the Commissioners that the board has made no such distinction in the relief of the poor by the operation of the Poor Removal Act of 1846 (9 and 10 Victoria Cap 66), further stating that the board have passed certain resolutions, two occasions of which were respecting the poor affected by the Poor Removal Act, of which copies are enclosed.
