Folio 211. Letter from John Kirkland, Clerk to the Southwell Rural District Council, to the Local Government Board, regarding the Canal Boats Act 1884. He sends the Board the following information as requested by their letter of 31 December 1894:
Inspector appointed at £3 per annum.
Twenty five conditions [not stated] fairly good, except 2.
h. Accommodation No. 53. Registered at Nottingham. Owner: Huskinson of East Bridgford, Nottingham. Very dirty cabin (a coal boat). Inspected 14 August. Re-inspected 27 December. Been repaired and repainted.
h. Caroline No. 101. Registered at Nottingham. Owner: Trent Navigation Co Inspected 29 October. Cabin dirty and damp (very old boat), Captain J Blatherwick says the boat is to be repaired at end of this voyage.

8. No regulatory authority in this union.
