Folios 211-212. Printed form with written comments from G E Kirkland, Clerk to the Southwell Union, to the Local Government Board, for the appointment of William Driscoll junior as Porter at Southwell Workhouse. Present residence is at Sandgate, Kent; age 33; single. Previously employed as an assistant shoemaker. Duties commence 22 August 1899. Salary £25 per year. He will reside at a separate porter's lodge with the usual rations and washing plus 1/- week in lieu of beer. One uniform/year. Previous porter was Arthur Betts, resigned 11 August 1899.
