Other Data: Roll of Honour (de Ruvigny) Vol II, Sect 1, p.285: 19(S) Bn LF, att 152 MG Coy, younger son of Joseph Willett of Cambria House, Great Clowes St,Higher Broughton, Manchester, Councillor and Magistrate of the Co. Borough of Salford, by his wife Florence Beatrice, d. of the late Peter Green. Born Broughton 21/11/93,educ privately and at the Royal Technical Instiutute, Salford. Assisted his father in business; enlisted in 20th Public Schools Bn, RF 12/9/14. Received a commission and gazetted 2Lt, 19LF in May 1915. Served with BEF in F&F from 21/11/15 and wounded 22/6/16, invalided home. Attached MGC and ret France with his Coy 1/5/17 and was KIA battle of Arras 15/5/17. Buried Rouex Wood, 4 miles east of Arras. His CO wrote "he had only been with us a very short while, but during this time I had learned to value his services very highly, and we all miss him very much in the mess, as he was liked by all" - and a brother officer "he was a splendid companmion and friend and had that priceless gift of always being able to keep us laughing and in good spirits when we most needed cheering". Unmarried.;
