- Note 2. This volume consists of sections of varying dates, bound together in parchment (probably in the fifteenth century) and the whole bound again (probably in the nineteenth century). The earlier binding is marked in an eighteenth or nineteenth century hands with the words Liber Ruber. It is apparent that some confusion as to the name of this manuscript exists. Another manuscript, called the Liber Ruber has disappeared, but a transcript of it was made by Dr. Thomas, an eighteenth century antiquarian. The writer of this title took this volume to be the lost Liber Ruber, but a comparison of its foliation with the references to the Liber Albus in Dr. Thomas's book "Survey of the Cathedral Church of Worcester and an account of its Bishops" (1736) proves that it is not.
