By an agreement of 22 March 1893 between the Ecclesiastical Commissioners (1) Daniel Jones of Kilsall Hall, gent (2) after negotiations between them for the sale to Daniel Jones of the interest of the Commissioners in 2 closes ofland (9a 15p) abutting on the turnpike road from Wolverhampton to Willenhall, in Wednesfield, Wolverhampton Staffs. Mines under them held or claimed to be held by D.Jones by a lease of 8 June 1836 between the Rev. George Oliver (1) The Governors of Queen Anne's Bounty (2) Christopher Hodgson (3) George Jones (4) and subsequent renewals by indentures of 2 March 1871, 18 October 1872, 16 June 1885. It is contended by Daniel Jones, but denied by the Commissioners, that the lease gave the lessee full powers to work clay and brick earth and all minerals. The matter was referred, before deciding the purchase price, to Henry Casson, as arbitrator. He awards that the lease did not give full power to work the clay and brick earth and all minerals.
