Appeal of St. Clement against order of 22 Mar. 1739/40 for removal of Mary, wife of John Williams and Mary (10 weeks) their dau. from Perranzabuloe to St. Clement: order confirmed.

Thomas Merrifield of St. Columb Major, blacksmith, confessed to assault and battery: fined 1s.

John Vanten of St. Austell, lab., confessed to assault and battery: fined 1s.

Recognizance for appearance to answer to a charge of trespass, contempt and misdemeanour, at Court of King's Bench, Westminster, under a writ of certiorari: William Pawley, Richard Hoskyns of Whitstone, yeo. surety, Thomas Steer of Whitstone, yeo. surety.

William Higman, an apprentice boy bound out by Calstock to Edmund Potter until the age of 24 and held in bridewell for various offences: to continue in bridewell until next sessions and Calstock to send a representative to show cause why Edmund Potter should not be discharged from his apprentice.

Application of Clement Jackson of East Looe, serge maker: granted a licence (for one year) to carry on the business of a "badger lader kidder carrier buyer or transporter of corn or grain", his sureties being John Charlick of Duloe, yeo. and William Copplestone.

Appeal of Edward Mitchell of Duloe, lab., against bastardy order of 18 Jan. in respect of s. of Johanna Geak of Duloe, single woman, chargeable to Lanreath: order confirmed and Edward Mitchell committed to bridewell until compliance.

Application of Falmouth regarding male bastard child born 13 June to Philippa Clark of Falmouth, single woman, chargeable to the parish: George Carpenter of Mylor, mariner, judged to be the putative father and to pay 40s. for expenses incurred and 1s. weekly towards maintenance of the child, mother to pay 6d. weekly.

Sf Foss of Penzance, cordwainer, felony (value 4d.): to be transported to America for 7 years.

Henry Tippett of Wendron, lab., felony (value 8d.): to be transported to America for 7 years.

Joseph Vincent of St. Austell, tinner, acquitted of stealing goods from John Jose, but found guilty of stealing other goods of a person unknown (value 10d.): public whipping.

Treasurer to pay Thomas Eyre, bridewell keeper, £5, his usual quarterly allowance and £2.14s.10d. for carrying prisoners to and from sessions and repairs to the bridewell.

Treasurer to pay George Conner, keeper of Launceston gaol, £4, his usual quarterly allowance and £3.16s. for carrying 4 convicts from Launceston to Exeter, at the rate of 6d. a mile for each.
