Indenture between Frances Harries of parish of St. James Westminster, widow of John Harries of Middle Temple, London, formerly of Lincoln's Inn Fields, daughter and devisee of Edward Fleming late of Sibdon Carewood 1st part, Jonathan Barff of Oswestry sent 2nd part, Francis Chamber of Oswestry, send 3rd part, whereas by indentures of lease and release January 20 and 21 1775 between John and Francis Harries, and John Cotes of Woodcote, reciting that Francis Harries by will of father Edward Fleming, seised of certain premises, and by death of brother Gilbert Fleming 1/3 of other premises. Bargain and sale by Frances Harries to John Cotes of Woodcote, for consideration 10s. of all premises, reversions and remainders etc. as granted to Frances Harries by will of Edward Fleming, to the use of Frances and John Harries and heirs. Covenant between John and Frances Harries and John Cotes, to levy fine Sur Cognisance de droit, of all messuages, lands and hereditaments, at hilary term next. Premises: 5 messuages, 2 cottages, 5 gardens, 5 orchards, 200 acres of land, 100 acres of acres of meadow: 200 acres of pasture, 30 acres of wood, 5 acres of land covered with water, 100 acres of furze and heath, and common of pasture, in parishes of Sibdon Carewood, Winstanstow, Stoke, and Edgton and Minstone, tithes of Sibdon and Edgton, and advowsons of chapels of Sibdon and Edgton, and one undivided third part of manors of Sibdon Carwood and Westhope, with appurtenances, and 1/3 of 40 messuages, 10 cottages, 5 dovehouse, 40 gardens, 40 orchards, 1200 acres of land, 600 acres of meadow, 1200 acres of pasture, 500 acres of wood, 50 acres of land covered with water, 1000 acres of furze and heath, common of pasture, in parishes of Sibdon, Carewood, Diddlebury, Hopesay, Stoke, Clun, Mainstone, and advowson of chapel of Westhope
Whereas by indenture December 20 1776, between John Harries and Frances his wife 1st part, Francis Chamber 2nd part, John Hill of Prees of 3rd part reciting that previous Michaelmas term Francis Chamber exhibited bill of complaint in High Court of Chancery, against John Harries for an account of various sums of money received by John Harries to the use of Francis Chambre, and for account of various sums for business transacted by John Harries. For securing money for which indebted to Francis Chambre, John and Frances Harries, desiring to make settlement from estates above mentioned; grant, bargain and sale to John Hill and heirs, 1/3 part of manors, messuages, etc. To hold by John Hill, subject to proviso that if John Harries should account with Francis Chambre for money owed, estate granted should cease. Covenant between John Harries and Francis Chambre that arbitrator should be appointed to settle account, William Trollope of Middle Temple selected to arbitrate between them.
Whereas John Harried died before accounts settled. Will dated May 20 1774, estates, real and personal devised to Frances his wife, as executrix. Whereas by deed poll, under seals of Francis Chambre and Francis Harris, May 12 1779, reciting indenture of December 12 1775, & that chambre of Frances decided Joseph Bullock of Caversfield Bucks, and Jonathan Barff should be appointed as arbitrators to settle accounts. Whereas by award of Joseph Bullock and Jonathan Barff, August 5th 1779, after inspection of the books, accounts etc of Francis Chambre and John Harries, determined that justly due from Frances Harries to Francis Chambre £3000 on balance of accounts; Frances Harries ordered to pay amount on September 1 next, at house of Francis Chambre Oswestry, 10 a.m. - 12 a.m. After payment of £3000 Frances Harries and Francis Chambre to give each other general release from all other demands. And provided that if Frances Harries should make default in payment of £3000, and should convey property in lieu, then lands, tenements, lands, messuages, conveyed should be valued £3500 to be ascertained by Joseph Bullock, and Thomas Vernon of Oswestry.
Whereas Francis Chambre agreed to accept conveyance of messuages, lands, tenements; whereas by indentures of lease and release, September 25 and 26 last, between Rev. Edward Harries, of Cruckton Salop, clerk, brother & heir of John Harries 1st, and Jonathan Barff 2nd part. Edward Harries in consideration of £2200 paid by Jonathan Barff released to Jonathan Barff the messuage called the New Inn, messuage in tenure of Tantrum with rents, issues and profits, as from the death of John Harries, Bailiffs name used in trust for Francis Harries, and intended that the messuages to be conveyed to Francis Chamb.

The Long Meadow 5a. 2rd. 16p., parcel called Tiptons Gorsty ground 6a. 29p., parcel called the Bank Field 3ac. 3rd 5p. to the last messuage mentioned in Sibdon Carwood belonging, in Sibdon, 3 parcels called the Stocken Grounds, 21 ac. 2rds. 16p. in parish of Stokesay and to last mentioned messuage belonging, formerly of which messuage and lands, formerly of Francis Tipton,late of John Edwards, now of Richard Broom, that messuage of 32 perches, formerly of John Oliver, now of Tantrum, a small parcel of land adjoining to the Wood belonging to the previous messuage, 1rd. 5pr. Parcel called The Long Croft, 1ac. 32 p. in the parish of Stokesay, 1/3 part of:- parcel called Carters Rool Eye, 6ac. 2rds, 35 p. Parcel called Carters Caynols., 9ac. 2rds, 8p. parcel called Stoney meadow, 7 ac. 3rds, 32 pr. The Piece of ground part of 2 on N-side of long meadow, 2rd. 22 pch. Parcel part of and to North of Tipton's Gorsty Ground, 1rd. 1 prch, which last mentioned premises are in Sibdon Carwood, 24ac. 3rds, 18 pch. now in tenure of Richard Broome, and all other messuages of Francis Harries which now are in tenure of Richard Broome or ? Tantrum with all houses, building belonging, reversions, issues remainders etc to Francis Chamber and heirs and assigns,forever Whereas by indenture March 25 1755 between Edward Fleming 1st part, and Henry Blakeway 2nd part, Edward Fleming, in consideration £1000 paid by Henry Blakeway, demised bargained and sold to Henry Blakeway, messuage called The Ryes, or New Inn, with lands and appurtenances, for 500 yrs, proviso, redemption, by Edward Fleming on payment of £1000 and interest. Whereas by endorsement on indenture Henry Blakeway received £300 as part of sum due, from Edward Fleming, sum of £700 and interest still due. Whereas Mary Blakeway executrix for Henry Blakeway deceased, at her decease William Stanier appointed executor William Stanier now possessed of premises for residue of 500 years. subject to equity of redemption, by Francis Harries, on payment of £700 and interest. Whereas by indentures of lease and release, September 6 1776, between John Harries and Frances Harries 1st part, and most noble George Duke and Earl of Manchester, viscount Mandeville, and baron Montague, Sir Henry Oxenden of Broome, Kent baronet, Henry Herbert of High Clene, county of Southampton, esq. and the Hons Rev. William Neville rector of Burghclere, Southampton, 2nd part release by John and Frances Harries to above persons of messuage called the Bruches, 4 parcels of ground called the Pikes, 5 parcels called the Bruches, one meadow called the Long Meadow, in Sibdon Carwood, and Rowton, in the parish of Stoke, proviso of redemption on payment of £4000 and interest. Whereas by indenture, April 19 1776, between Rev. Edward Harries of Cruckton, clerk, 1st part, John Baxter of the Rock Co. Montgomery esq. Richard James of Ludlow surgeon, and Ann his wife, John and Fraces Harries, 2nd part, and Griffin Ransom Esq. of St James's Westminster 3rd part, 39 land called the. Whereas agreed between Francis Chambre and Frances Harries that premises released to be exonerated from 2 mortgages to George Duke of Manchester, etc. and to Griffin Ransom. Further Covenant between Francis Chambre and Frances Harries that Frances Harries to keep indemnified premises conveyed to Francis Chambre from law suits, actions, costs etc. by reason of 2 mortgages to George Duke of Mapchester, and Griffin Ransom, Further that it shall be lawfull for Francis Chambre to enter all premises released to him by Frances Harries and Jonathan Barff, from September 29, for his own use, without disturbance by Frances Harries or her heirs, from former grants mortgager except for mortgage vested in of William Stanier. In witness to agreement, signed by Frances Harries and Jonathan Barff. Sealed and delivered in the presence of Thomas Vernon, Edward Williams clerk to Mr. Chamber.
