Brothers: Alfred Henry (34) Artificer Engr RN, John Harold (30) Westport, NZ, Sister, Eleanor (32) 23 Grey Terrace, Ryhope, Sunderland.
Inns of Court OTC 16/8/15. Cas form: Embarked Devenport 7/11/16, Salonika 5/12/16. To 65 Coy MGC. 24/12/16 reported to 78 MG Coy. 30/12/16 joined 78 Coy, and reported missing 11/5/1917 believed killed. 15/3/18 War Office - Death Accepted by Army Council as having occurred on service.

Born at 61 Sheffield Rd, Halton, Portsmouth on 30/8/93. Educated at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Penrith. Son of Alfred Wakely and Eleanor Jane Wakely (formerly Fletcher) of 17 Lannoweth Rd, Penzance, Cornwall. As of August 1918 his siblings were Alfred Henry Wakely aged 34 who was an artificer engineer with the Royal Navy, John Harold Wakely aged 30 or Westport New Zealand and Eleanor M Wakely aged 32 of 23 Gay Tce, Ryhope, Sunderland. His commission application is dated 21/7/15. Originally enlisted in Lincoln's Inn, London on 16/8/15 as No 5644 in the Inns of Court OTC. Aged 21 years 11 months at enlistment, height 5' 11", weight 154lbs with good physical development, religion CofE. Discharged to commission 19/8/15 in the KLR. Embarked Devonport 7/11/16 and arrived in Salonica 5/12/16. Posted to 65 Company MGC 14/12/16. Reposted to 78 Company 30/12/16. Reported missing night of 8/9 May 1917. His death was accepted for official purposes on 15/3/18 as having on 8/5/15. (Officers Papers - PRO )
