NEWTON ABBOT.
Exemplification dated 12. July. 31. Hen. 8. (1539) at request of John Gaverocke, of a record of the Court of Augmentation recording that said John came 1. July. 31. Hen. 8. to Court bringing for record a Writing dated 3. Dec. 29. Hen. 8. (1537) under the conventual Seal of St. Saviour's of Torre, now dissolved, whereby Simon the Abbot granted to John Gaverocke for his good counsel in the Law, given to the Convent, for other good services, of the Office of Bailiff of the Manor of Wolboroughe for life, with an annuity of 60s. from the Abbey lands in Torremoham, Aysheclyste, Grendell, Salterton and North Skyllingford, Co. Devon.
