Lease for one yr. Rent. £225.
(i) Wm. Coryton, Pentillie Castle, esq.
(ii) Jas. Brook, Priscombe in Crediton, yeo.
- Butsford and Mardles, Colebrooke (202a. 3r. 23p.). Formerly occ. Rich. Bartlett. (ii) to pay ¼ of tithe rent charge, all rates and taxes including land tax except property and income tax and game rate. (ii) to repair everything except main timbers and walls and slated roofs; landlord to supply rough timber. Orchards to be well planted and fenced and not to be stocked except with sheep and pigs.
( (ii) to cleanse ditches, water courses etc. Wood not to be cut from hedges except hedges annually clipped or from hedges of 6 yrs. growth or more, then only from hedges bounding fields in wheat tillage between months of November and March. Cultivation only ¼ of arable (scheduled) yearly. Turnips or other green crops cleansed and cultivated with not less than 20 cart loads of good rotten farm yard dung per acre or 2½ quarters of genuine bone dust. For wheat, barley or oats not less than 10 lbs of clover and 101bs of eaver seed per acre. Grass seeds to be cut for hay or grazed at option of tenant. Not to be cut more than once. No more than 4a. of potatoes to be grown yearly. Straw, green crops, dung to be used on premises. Tenant could sell hay and wheat reed. (ii) not to till any meadow or pasture (scheduled) and not to cut for hay unless manured with not less than 20 cart loads of good rotten dung per acre. Land as comes in course to be broken for wheat on first day of September. 1/5 of arish or stubble grounds as comes in course for turnips or other green crop the following yr. and after 1 September to till to vetches, trifolium or other crops for soiling. And all arishes for ploughing the same and any ground on which potatoes have grown after 1 December. And to unstock the grass seeds on and after 1 November 'and to give up sufficient house room, with straw for bedding for four horses or working cattle'. Landlord to allow outgoing tenant use of barn 'sufficient house room for Four houses and the Shippens for consuming the turnips or other root crops and straw or hay until the First day of May next after the expiration of his tenancy'.)
