Purchased in 1705 by Thomas Artis and wife Sara (formerly Downing) from John Fuller. Artis - Downing - Harley - Taylor - Hardy - Playford. Conveyed in 1797 by John Playford to the use of John Patterson. Inc. agreement between Sarah Downing and Thomas Smyth re lead guttering between the "Rampant Horse" and his malthouse lately built (see Y/D31/1-12) over the site of a tenement and "a Narrow or Streight peice of ground", 1726, Will (probate copy) of Sarah wife of Thomas Artis merchant, proved 1723, and extracts from Wills of Sarah Downing and Mary Taylor, spinsters, dated 1753 and 1763. Ref. also to tenement and alehouse in the South End of the town W of Gaol Street
