Now in Membury, he was born in Kingston, Somerset where his parents belonged, when he was 15 he hired himself to Joseph Vincent of Charlcombe, Somerset at 1s a week, after 6 months he hired himself to John Vicent at Knowle for 1s 6d a week, after 5 months he went to Ilminster and worked for John Bryant for 1s 6d a week and stayed two years, then he went to Merriot and hired himself to Samuel French for 6s a week for 3 months, he then went to Wales and lived in St George, Vclamorgan for 7 months, he returned to Kingston, married and rented a house and some potato ground for £8 for a year, he then moved to Membury and is living there with his wife and 3 children renting a house and potato ground for £9 15s
