(a) rest of letter from Joseph Walls could not go to the war because in Government Service
(b) from A C Clark (sic) to Faith glad Rouse now Lieutenant Colonel must be busy with all chaps staying (second instalment of invalids had arrived at Hinwick when he wrote totalling 17 soldiers) wanted to send 5s to Johnny for his birthday 4 February 1916
(c) from Walls from camp in Isle of Wight to Faith 'thinking about the time I went to you a year ago' not heard from Godinge in answer to a parcel sent him splendid idea getting money for Tobacco fund going to make Faith a present, will take a month or two to do' undated
(d) from A C Clarke, Trenches to Faith same as (b) but more detail in another part of line - trenches dry and well-drained stiff march here 4 February 1916
(e) from Clarke to Faith thanks for Broadsheets of the great authors references to Zeppelin raid on Kettering (Faith and family went on roof of Hinwick House to try and see them)
Clarke in peaceful wood, only 600 yards from the firing line constant firing by 'our' artillery worse last winter when 'our' artillery hampered by lack of shells to reply to German bombardment glad Mr Dick is well and cheery through all the hardships of cold 9 February 1916
(f) from Clarke to Faith first time met up with his battalion at Ypres trenches in dreadful state up to waist high in places horseshoe shaped, 'makes it a very bad position to hold' lucky last December when trench hit by unexploded shell left 19 December for Flumenlinge. Went through Ypres in daylight, 'devastated' had bombing attacks in present splendid trenches details of German propaganda boards 8 April 1916
