Photograph album compiled by Lieutenant Colonel Henry Courtenay Mansel Walton (b. 1909). RAMC 1931-54, in India 1934-39, documenting his life as a medical officer stationed mainly at Rawalpindi, Murree and Quetta. Half-leather album measuring 310 mm x 410 mm, containing 591 snapshots, the photographs captioned (probably at a later date) in ballpoint pen on the album pages. Among the subjects covered in the album are: three earlier views (1910-18) of Bareilly and Raniket; camp at Ranial, November 1934; views at Rawalpindi, including Cantonment Board Office, 1934-35; views of Murree, 1934-35; a trip to Kashmir, Summer 1935; scenes at Quetta, 1936; flight from Karachi-Amsterdam in December 1935, including portraits of the pilots and exterior and interior views of the KLM aircraft; journey from Montgomery to Multan, March 1936; views of Killa Abdulla, Loralai, Fort Sandeman, Khojak Pass and Tunnel, May-June 1936; an extensive series of photographs of the aftermath of the Quetta Earthquake, 1935-36 (some by a professional photographer); shooting camp at Zarghun, October 1936; car accident near Seringapatam, January 1936 (1937?); views of Coorg and Mysore, December 1936-January 1937, including Forest Department elephants at work; Seringapatam, January 1937; Jubbulpore, 1937-39.
