Description

United Kingdom: England, southwest coast: Cornwall. 'A Nautic Survey of Mounts Bay from the Lizard to the Landsend including the Longships'. Includes four views: 1) 'Chapel Carn Brey [Brea]‘; 2) 'Castle dinnis [Dinnis] Hill’; 3) ‘Garrow Hill’; 4) Halzephon High Cliffs. Survey shows coastline, hydrography, anchorages, jetties, wreck sites (merchant brig lost 1795 and HMS Anson), settlements, buildings (St Michael's Mount), military installations, land marks, sight lines, remarks (including mention of the wrecks of His Majesty's Brig Wildboar, 15 February 1810 and an unnamed merchant brig, 11 May 1810) and explanatory key. Colour manuscript. Latitude referred to in remarks; north point with compass indicator and magnetic north variation; evidence of (pencil) construction lines. Scale: 7.3 inches to 3 miles. Surveyed 'by Stephen Jenkins, master in the Royal Navy assisted by Richard Trewavas King's Pilot'; assignation: 'S [Stephen] Jenkins master Royal Navy'. Annotated (in pencil): 'Recd [Received] 7 July 1810'
