Until the 18th cent. the only division in these accounts was between receipts from the original endowments and Bishop Sherburne's lands (Cap/I/13-16). Later a separate 'wood and money' account, relating to the maintenance of the fabric, payment of salaries and wages, and similar domestic purposes, was formed, which first appears in Cap/I/23/6. Some loose pages from Cap/I/23/1 and 2 are still in Cap/I/4.
