Administrative / biographical background: Llewellyn Treacher (1859-1943) came from one of the leading families of Twyford in Berkshire, involved in building and market gardening. Among Llewellyn's interests was geology, and he was elected a Fellow of the Geological Society in 1893. He was also an antiquarian and local historian researching the area around Twyford.
