Description (What the record is about)
-
These are miscellaneous papers connected with finance which are arranged chronologically within each section. They include records relating to more than one manor as well as those where any property concerned is unclear or unspecified.
AR/8/1 - 307 The types of records to be found in the general section include revenue and disbursement accounts, expense accounts, accounts of receipts and relief, audit notes, rent lists, bills of exchange, cheques, vouchers and various memoranda.
AR/8/308 - 340 The annuities section comprises grants, bonds, receipts and assignments of annuities granted by the Arundells to friends and employees. A few of the eighteenth century annuities, charged on specified lands, were granted as security for loans.
AR/8/341 - 410 The bills include those for labour, purchases, legal work and the expenses incurred by the Arundells' stewards while travelling and holding manorial courts. Many are in bundles and have not been examined in detail but those which are separately listed should give an indication of the bundles' contents. Many of the bills in which no property is specified are probably from Lanherne mansion house. See also AR/11 and AR/12 for specifically farming and household bills and AR/32 for some clothes bills.
AR/8/411 - 527 The receipts date mainly from the eighteenth century and include those for rent, wages, window tax, land tax and tithes.
